The State and Future of Digital Marketplaces – A Webinar

By: Jeff Nolan | November 5, 2018 | Marketplaces, Webinar

Digital marketplaces have been around since the early days of the web, but only recently are they starting to catch on. Earlier this year, Amazon started in a letter to shareholders that more transactions were fulfilled by third-party sellers than by Amazon itself. It’s also worth noting that by 2020, 40% of all global commerce will occur through marketplaces.

There’s no arguing that marketplaces matter, but success in the space involves more than simply providing a platform for buyers and sellers to transact. There are a variety of challenges that need to be overcome, such as acquiring/retaining buyers and sellers; developing effective competitive differentiation strategies; and overcoming cart abandonment.

If you haven’t read our first-of-its-kind industry report, grab a copy, and then mark your calendar for November 7th. That’s when we’ll be hosting our live webinar about the digital marketplace landscape and how to get the most from this shift in commerce.

Join myself and Digital Futurist at Altimeter Group, Brian Solis for a short—but impactful—30 minute webinar, where we’ll discuss:

  • Key insights from industry research about what is driving marketplace industry growth
  • The core characteristics of successful digital marketplaces, and practical suggestions about applying those principles to your marketplace platform
  • Where marketplace operators should be focusing their time, resources, and efforts
  • Common challenges that buyers and sellers encounter on marketplaces, and how to minimize their impact
