Four Ways to Boost Marketplace Transaction Volumes During the Holiday Season and Beyond
Digital marketplaces have been around since the early days of the web, but only recently are they starting to catch on. Earlier this year, Amazon started in a letter to shareholders that more transactions were fulfilled by third-party sellers than by Amazon itself. It’s also worth noting that by 2020, 40% of all global commerce will occur through marketplaces.
There’s no arguing that marketplaces matter, but success in the space involves more than simply providing a platform for buyers and sellers to transact. There are a variety of challenges that need to be overcome, such as acquiring/retaining buyers and sellers; developing effective competitive differentiation strategies; and overcoming cart abandonment.
