KAHUNA ON THE MOVE: COMPANY GROWS REVENUE 400% AND OPENS NEW HEADQUARTERS

PALO ALTO, Calif. — December 2, 2015 — Kahuna, the leader in communication automation for the mobile era, today announced that it is on track to reach 400% growth in annual revenue in 2015.  Recent growth has been driven by the rapid acquisition of customers due to the expansion of the platform to deliver intelligent email and personalized communications through other channels. Recent customer wins for Kahuna include YP (formerly YellowPages.com), Sprig and VivaReal. The company also announced that it has moved its Silicon Valley headquarters from Palo Alto to a new 42,000 square-foot office located at the former DreamWorks space in Redwood City.

“It’s an exciting time for Kahuna and, more importantly, for our customers,” said Adam Marchick, CEO and co-founder of Kahuna. “Our customer growth in multiple industries, and around the globe, makes it clear that brands aren’t simply looking for a mobile marketing solution. Brands are looking for a way to engage their customers in the most personal way—across all devices and channels.”

Kahuna’s explosive growth comes at a time when brands of all sizes are seeing increased value in “owned communication” channels like push notification, in-app messages and email. One of the most iconic brands, YP, has begun working with Kahuna to more effectively engage consumers with YP’s consumer properties, including the YP℠ app, where they can find and connect with local businesses.

“For more than 100 years, YP has been the trusted destination for finding and connecting with great local businesses in your neighborhood,” said Alex Kaminsky, Senior Vice President, Consumer Marketing, YP. “Kahuna helps us strengthen those connections by delivering contextual, personalized messages to consumers when they are most open to receiving them.”

The Kahuna platform was built to empower brands to understand customers on a deep level, and then engage through relevant and personalized messaging. This approach has found success with a wide variety of businesses, whether it’s an on-demand service like Sprig, or a booming real-estate marketplace in Brazil like VivaReal.

“What we are witnessing over time is the steady and unstoppable rise of the empowered consumer, who keeps raising the standard for experience,” said Marchick. “There’s an opportunity for every company to get ahead of the trend with personalized communication at scale.”

New Global HQ Accommodates Increased Demand

The move to Redwood City will help support the company’s expansion, while remaining in the epicenter of Silicon Valley.

“Our new HQ will not only enable us to grow the staff we need, but also build out space for customer education and public events,” said Julie Ginches, CMO at Kahuna. “We are looking forward to this new chapter in the company, and to engage the broader ecosystem of marketers that is emerging.”
